The first Farmstead Supper was a celebration of the Fall harvest held back in October at Urban Farmstead in Sacramento, CA – set in the Farm to Fork Capital of America, there is no better place than here and no better time than now, for real food events that inspire people to gather, share and learn how integrating a farm to fork way of living can change their lives & community.
Every aspect of the supper is carried out with the utmost care and intent on making the evening a truly memorable experience. The following gallery chronicles the journey of creating and hosting our first Farmstead Supper.
Proceeds from this event benefited the Edible Sac High program at Sacramento High School. We were privileged to spend a day in the garden with the program directors, seeing how the garden is incorporated throughout the curriculum at the school & how learning to grow food is enriching the lives of the students. Greens and horseradish grown by the students were incorporated into the supper menu.
Morgan and Bella spent some time preparing for the supper at the farm where Bella’s milk goats live. The milk they harvested was turned into homemade fromage blanc and ricotta that was served at the supper. They gathered eggs from the pasture raised hens to be used for the ice cream and they harvested pomegranates for the salad and decor.
Kyle & Morgan’s Urban Farmstead is the ultimate setting for a farm to fork supper. Surrounded by the beauty of their urban garden, guests are privileged with the opportunity to see where much of the food they are eating was grown.
None of this would have been possible without the generous sponsors who contributed to the supper and it made it possible for this event to benefit the Edible Sac High program at Sacramento High School
